Get to Know Ben

Hey, I'm Ben, a coach at OVERLAP Consistent Running Coaching

I began my athletic journey with a diverse background in sports, including basketball, Australian Rules Football, swimming, and both road and track cycling. When I transitioned out of football, I looked for a new way to stay fit and healthy, which led me to discover running. This quickly became my passion and area of expertise.

When I started running, I had no guidance and limited knowledge. Joining OVERLAP was a pivotal moment in my running career. Since then, I've delved into every aspect of running, from training methodologies and nutrition to running technology, with a particular interest in footwear.

I'm always learning and educating myself through various mediums like podcasts, YouTube videos, books, and hands-on experience.

My love for running and self-improvement naturally led me to help others, whether it was getting friends and family into running, answering questions about running basics, or sharing my knowledge and experience more broadly.

I've participated in a wide range of running events, including regular parkruns with my daughter, half marathons, full marathons, ultra trail events, and backyard ultras. I continuously challenge myself to improve my running performance and expand my knowledge in all areas of the sport.

For me, running is more than just a physical activity. It's a space for personal development and achievement, a tool for enhancing overall well-being, a source of enjoyment and fulfillment, and a chance to join a supportive and inclusive community like OVERLAP.

I'm dedicated to helping runners of all levels reach their goals, whether you're aiming for your first 5km parkrun, training for a marathon, or running for health, well-being, or social reasons. My coaching style focuses on providing personalized support, introducing runners to the OVERLAP community, and tailoring plans to individual aims and aspirations.
